Five-Ingredient Drink to Eliminate Toxin

Pu Gong Ying
蒲公英 (Dandelion)
Zi Hua Di Ding
紫花地丁 (Violet)
Ye Ju Hua
野菊花 (Chrysanthemum) Tian Kui Zi 天葵⼦ (Semiaquilegia)

Latin
Lonicera japonica
Taraxacum sinicum
Viola yedoensis
Chrysanthemum indicum
Semiaquilegia adoxoides

Amount
9 grams



3.6 grams ea.

Preparation:
Decoct in water, adding 2–3 tablespoonfuls of rice wine before cooking. The cooked herbs may be applied topically.

Function:
Clears Heat and Toxin, Cools the Blood, Reduces Swelling

Use:
1. Boils

2. Carbuncles
3. Furuncles
4. Erysipelas
5. Cellulitis

6. Mastitis
7. Conjunctivitis
8. Acute Hepatitis
9. Acute Pyelonephritis
10. Urinary Tract Infection


Dose:

the above is decocted to be taken in 2 or 3 equal doses over the course of the day.

Cautions:
1. Not for dark, slow-to-heal sores (Yin-type boils)
2. Caution in cold and weakness of the digestion


Modifications:
1. With High Fever, add Coptis Huang Lian and Forsythia Lian Qiao
2. Dark red, painful sores, add Paeonia Mu Dan Pi and Paeonia Chi Shao Yao
3. Breast Abscess, add Trichosanthes Gua Lou, Fritillaria Zhe Bei Mu and Citrus Qing Pi 4. Septicemia, add Isatis Da Qing Ye and Scutellaria Ban Zhi Lian
5. In weak patients, add Astragalus and Dang Gui.
