Preparation:
Powder. It can be made into a Confection with 3 oz. of clarified Honey.
Function:
Calms the Mind and Spirit, Strengthens the Heart and Brain, Clears Cold and Damp, Settles Wind, Stops Spasms
Use:
1. Tremors
2. "Shaking Palsy", Parkinsonism
3. Palpitations
4. Heart weakness
5. Fainting
6. Coldness of the Liver
7. Female diseases with Cold, Damp, and Qi stagnation.
8. Infertility from Cold
9. Tonic During Pregnancy (for Cold constitutions only)
Dose:
1⁄2–1 dram, up to 2 drams of the powder, 2–3 times daily
Cautions:
None noted
Modifications:
Various authors listed this as a specific for ‘Shaking Palsy’, which overlaps the modern diagnosis of Parkinsonism.
