Function:
Clears Heat, resists Poison, heals Sores and Ulcers
Use:
"Especially defeats any Heat present in the body and draws out old Heat"
"This medicine kills fresh and old Heat 'grams [Spreading Fever], 'khrugs, rims [Epidemic Fever] and heat of Poisons, treats diseases of dreg [Gout], grum [Rheumatoid arthritis] and me dbal [erysipelas], as well as the appearance on the body of dark red spots from which pus flows out, but especially draws out the dissipating old heat from the roots" (Amdo Compendium)
1. Heat of the Organs, Skin, Muscles or Bones
2. High Fever
3. Toxic Fever
4. Acute and Chronic Fevers; especially for Chronic Fever
5. Malaria
6. Sepsis
7. Carbuncles, Boils
8. Erysipelas and skin inflammations
9. Ulcers
10. Toxin Sores
11. Gout, Arthritis, Rheumatoid arthritis
Dose:
1300mg, twice daily
Cautions:
Not suitable in Cold disorders or Yang deficiency.
Modifications:
This formula has a number of different versions listed by various sources. As with a number of the larger Tibetan formulas, there is often a difference in the basic formula, but in this case, the differences are significant. One version, given by Tsarong, has Camphor in the smallest proportion of all medicines, whereas this version has Camphor in one of the largest proportions. This may be due to the use of refined and unrefined Camphor resin respectively. The basic ingredients given are generally similar with doses being the main difference.
