Preparation:
Hypocistis juice, Opium, Acacia and Mastic are dissolved in Myrtle juice, the rest are added in powder and formed into pills.
Function:
Astringent, clears Heat and Inflammation, promotes Healing
Use:
1. Diarrhea
2. Dysentery, including that with Blood
Dose:
1⁄2–1 dram
Cautions:
None noted
Modifications:
This formula will stand without Opium. Poppy seed could be used in its place.It can also be simplified with a reduction in the number of medicines. Nevertheless, it is a good representation of the medicines classically used for Diarrhea and Dysentery.
