Decoction of Fumitory Compound
Or, Decoction to be taken in May

Glycyrrhiza glabra
Amount
2 handfuls




1 handful ea.
1 oz.
4 drams
1 dram

Preparation:
Cover by 4 finger-breadths, then boil gently to half. Preferably decocted in Whey but can also be boiled in water. Whey powder could also be added to the strained water decoction.
If a stronger purgative effect is desired, in the strained Decoction, infuse:

  Rhubarb                2–4 drams
  Spikenard                  1 scruple
  Schoenanth              ½ dram

Infuse overnight, bring briefly to the boil, then strain.

Function:
clears Heat, Bile and Burnt Humors from the Blood, resolves Toxin, opens the Liver

Use:
1. cleanses the Blood, used for chronic Skin diseases, Eczema, Psoriasis
2. Eczema, Psoriasis
3. Leprosy 
4. Jaundice
5. Liver obstruction

6. Liver Headache
7. Benefits Digestion
8. Taken in Spring time to cleanse the Blood

Dose:

2–4 oz. in the morning.

Cautions:
Use cautiously in Cold and weak Digestion.
