Tonify the Lungs Decoction with Ass-hide Gelatin

Ma Dou Ling (Birthwort fruit)
Xing Ren (Apricot seed)
Niu Bang Zi (Burdock seed)
Geng Mi (Nonglutinous Rice)
Zhi Gan Cao (Fried Licorice)

Gelatinum Asinus
Aristolochia debilis
Prunus armenica
Arctium lappa
Oryza sativa

Glycyrrhiza uralensis
Amount
45 grams
15 grams
6 grams
7 ½ grams
30 grams
7 ½ grams

Preparation:
Prepare a standard decoction. The herbs and rice are deocted to make 3 doses. One-third (15 grams) of the Gelatin is dissolved into each dose.
Originally, the herbs were powdered to be made into a draught with 3–6 grams of the powder.


Function:
Strengthens Lungs, Tonifies Yin, Stops Cough, Stops Bleeding

Use:
Dry Cough, Wheezing, Blood-streaked sputum, red tongue with little coating and a thin, rapid pulse.
1. Chronic, dry Cough
2. Chronic Bronchitis
3. Chronic Asthma
4. Pneumonia
5. Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD)
6. Tuberculosis
7. Emphysema

Dose:

The above decoction is divided into 3 equal doses to be taken over the course of a day.

Cautions:
1. Avoid using in Spleen weakness, or add herbs to strengthen the Spleen.
2. Not used in acute Cough or Cough with excess Phlegm
