Preparation:
Powder
It can be prepared as a decoction with the doses in brackets.
Function:
Releases the Exterior, clears Wind and Damp, Strengthens Qi
Use:
High Fever with Chills and Shivering, pain and stiffness in the head and neck, fullness of the chest, nasal obstruction, white or greasy tongue coat with a floating but weak pulse.
In non-acute diseases, such as skin diseases and arthritic diseases, the High Fever will generally not be present. But the moving pain, itchiness, and greasy tongue coat indicating Wind and Damp will be present.
1. Common Cold, Influenza
2. Upper Respiratory Tract Infection
3. Early stages of Dysentery or Measles
4. Eczema, Dermatitis with itching
5. Arthritis, Osteoarthritis, Rheumatoid Arthritis
Dose:
Take 6 grams of the powder and cook briefly with fresh Ginger and Mint.
If decocted, it is taken over the course of the day in 3 equal doses.
Cautions:
Not used in Heat conditions or Yin deficiency
