Preparation:
Powder and form Honey pills.
Can also be prepared as a tincture.
Function:
Moves the Blood, clears Stasis, Open the Collaterals (Capillaries), Eases Pain
Use:
Fixed Pain with dull complexion, dark tongue or with bruised spots; wiry pulse
1. Fixed, sharp, stabbing Pain in the chest, abdomen, back, limbs
2. Neuralgias incl. Trigeminal Neuralgia, Post-herpetic Neuralgia, Intercostal Neuralgia
3. Bruising, Swelling due to Trauma
4. Fibroids; Tumors
5. Fixed abdominal masses
6. Angina Pectoris
7. Cerebral Thrombosis
8. Dysmenorrhea
9. Arthritic or Rheumatic pain associated with Blood stasis (dull colored joints)
10. Chronic Osteomyelitis
11. Cirrhosis; Liver Abscess; Liver hardness
12. Chronic abscesses; Chronic Eczema, Psoriasis
13. Internal or External Ulcers; Diabetic Ulcers
Dose:
The above can be taken in 4–6 equal doses, preferably taken with wine. It may also be decocted to be taken over the course of the day.
Cautions:
1. Not used during Pregnancy.
2. Not used in Bleeding disorders.
3. Can increase effectiveness of Blood thinning agents
Modifications:
1. Pain in the lower limbs, add Angelica Du Huo and Achyranthes Niu Xi
2. Pain in the upper limbs, add Cinnamon twig Gui Zhi and Tumeric
3. Blood stagnation with Cold, add Cinnamon and/or Cinnamon twig Gui Zhi
3. To increase Blood-moving effect, add Safflower and Peach kernel.
4. Also to increase blood-moving effect, add Notoginseng San Qi
5. To more strongly invigorate the collaterals (fine capillaries), prepare as a tincture and add Saffron, Asarum and Camphor.
6. Stubborn Rheumatic pain, add prepared Nux Vomica and prepared Aconitum Fu Zi
This is a premier formula for pain due to Blood stagnation. It may be used for a wide range of disorders when the root cause is poor circulation or blood stagnation. Various chronic disorders can respond to such blood-moving formula when other treatment strategies have failed.
