Er Miao San  二妙散

Preparation:
When prepared as a Powder, equal parts are stir-fried, then ground into powder.
It may also be prepared a standard decoction with the amounts given above.

Function:
Clears Heat and Damp

Use:
Scanty, yellow urine with a greasy tongue coating
1. Urinary Tract Infections
2. Edema with Damp Heat
3. Vaginitis
4. Gout
5. Rheumatoid Arthritis
6. Gonococcal Arthritis
7. Weakness of the lower limbs
8. Red, swollen painful knees and joint
9. Leukorrhea that is Yellow, foul-smelling
10. Damp sores of the lower body
11. Eczema
12. Herpes of the Genitals
13. Gonorrhea
14. Fungal Infetions

Dose:

As a powder, 3–6 grams.
Prepared as a decoction, it is divided into 3 equal doses to be taken over the course of a day.

Cautions:
None noted

Modifications:
1. Leukorrhea, add Euryale Qian Shi, Poria Fu Ling
2. Sores of the Lower Body, add Gentiana Long Dan Cao, Job's Tears (Yi Yi Ren)
3. Ecemza or Sores of the Lower Body, add Rhubarb
4. Eczema, take with Bei Xie Shen Shi Tang
5. Pain and swelling of the legs, add Job's Tears (Yi Yi Ren), Achyranthes Niu Xi
6. Arthritis with Damp-Heat and Toxin, add China root (Tu Fu Ling), Job's Tears (Yi Yi Ren)
7. Genital Herpes, take with Long Dan Xie Gan Tang

ANTI-INFLAMMATORY:
–Elucidation of the anti-inflammatory mechanism of Er Miao San by integrative approach of network pharmacology and experimental verification
–Er-Miao-San, a traditional herbal formula containing Rhizoma Atractylodis and Cortex Phellodendri inhibits inflammatory mediators in LPS-stimulated RAW264.7 macrophages through inhibition of NF-κB pathway and MAPKs activation.
