* Paulus Aegineta said the Lycium indicum of Dioscorides was a Berberis spp. This would make sense as the evaporated juice of Berberis is still used topically in eye disorders in India.

Preparation:
Beat them together to form a confection and keep in a glass vessel

Function:
Clears Heat and Toxin, dries Damp, Astringes

Use:
The source text listed 55 eye disorders for which this would cure, some of which are:1. Sore, Red Eyes
2. Eye Pain
3. Itchiness of the Eyes
4. Tearing of the Eyes
5. Poor or Failing Sight
6. Sores or Abscesses of the Eyelids
7. Dryness of the Eyelids
8. Thickness of the Eyelids
9. Ulcers and Fistulas of the Eyes
10. Lice or Knits
11. ‘Moreover anointing with it in the bath and washing it o
ff, is a great help for all pains’.


Dose:
Applied topically, it is dropped into the eyes.
