Note that many of the American remedies that were imported from Europe will be available in the Materia Medica of Herbal Medicine page. Several medicines not of American origin (such as Buchu) are added here because they were primarily used by American practitioners.

- There was not the scale of ancient Formulas used over vast time and area.
- The American Herbs were a later edition to the 'global' Materia Medica when compared to other herbs.
