Botanical name:
Stellaria dichotoma

Parts used:

Temperature & Taste:
Cool, slightly moist. Sweet, Bitter

Classification:
B. Clears Deficient Heat

Uses:
1. Clears Deficient Heat:

-Fever or Heat from Yin deficiency; Chronic low-grade Fever
-Malarial Fevers with deficiency
-Consumption, Steaming Bone Disorder
-chronic deficient Cough (TCM); Lung Fever, Pneumonia (Tibetan Medicine)

2. Clears Heat, Stops Bleeding:
-Uterine Bleeding from Blood Heat
-Coughing Blood, Blood in the Urine

3. Clears Heat, Resolves Childhood Nutritional Impairment:
-Fever, Thirst, Weakness, Irritability in children from poor nutrition
-infantile malnutrition
-Hyperactivity in children related to poor diet

Main Combinations:
1. Yin Deficient Heat:
i. Steaming Bone Disorder, Stellaria Yin Chai Hu with Picrorhiza (Hu Huang Lian)
ii. recurring afternoon Fever from deficiency, Stellaria Yin Chai Hu with Lycium Di Gu Pi
iii. Fever from Deficient Heat, Stellaria Yin Chai Hu with Gentiana macrophylla Qin Jiao, Artemisia annua Qiang Hao, Licorice
iv. Deficient Heat, Chronic low-grade Fever, Tidal Fever, Stellaria Yin Chai Hu with Artemisia annua Qing Hao, Lycium Di Gu Pi, Picrorhiza Hu Huang Lian, Anemarrhena Zhi Mu (as in Qing Gu San from Zheng Zhi Zhun Sheng [Standard of Diagnosis and Treatments])
2. Liver Heat with deficiency:
i. Stellaria Yin Chai Hu with Peppermint (Bo He)
ii. Stellaria Yin Chai Hu with Gardenia Zhi Zi, Scutellaria Huang Qin, Ginseng
3. Chronic Cough from deficiency with Night Sweats, Stellaria Yin Chai Hu with Changium Ming Dang Shen, Lycium Di Gu Pi, Fritillaria Chuan Bei Mu, Ophiopogon Mai Men Dong
4. Childhood Nutritional Impairment with Fever, emaciation, thirst, Stellaria Yin Chai Hu with Gardenia Zhi Zi, Scutellaria Huang Qin
5. Uterine Bleeding from Blood Heat, Stellaria Yin Chai Hu with Paeonia Mu Dan Pi, Picrorhiza (Hu Huang Lian)

Cautions:
Not used in cases of Blood deficiency without Heat
