Dose:
60–125mg twice daily with Honey or Cow Milk.
Vehicles for Silver Bhasma:
-For inflammations, take with Sugar

-Cough and Phlegm; with Adhatoda vasica and Trikatu (2 Peppers and Ginger)
-Asthma; with Ginger
-Consumption and Wasting, with Shilajit (Bitumen)

-Swelling of the Liver or Spleen, with Triphala and Long Pepper.

Substitute:
According to some Unani sources, Turquoise can be substituted for Silver.
Purification of Silver (Ayurveda):
1. Silver may be processed as the general method for preparation of Metals (see under Gold). Thereafter, it is again heated and quenched 3 times in the juice of the leaves of Sesbania grandiflora or in Jyotismati (Celastrus paniculatus will) oil for three times
. It is now ready to be made into Bhasma.
2. Leaves of Silver are heated over a fire and dipped into the juice of Sesbania grandiflora leaves 3 times consecutively.
3. Silver is purified if it is melted 3 times with a little Lead and Borax, then quenched each time in the oil pressed from the fruits of Celastrus paniculatus.
Preparation:
1. Bhasma of Silver (1):
"Rajata bhasma can be prepared by triturating purified Silver with double quantity of purified Hingula (Cinnabar) to Rajata. While triturating Nimbu (Citrus medica Var. acida ) juice may be added, when fine paste of Rajata and Hingula is made, prepare its small pillets, dry these and close in Damaru yantra and apply heat at least for six hours. On cooling collect the condensed mercury from upper pot and powdered Silver from lower pot Again mix Silver powder with double quantity Hingula and repeat the process for three times. Within three heatings black coloured fine Rajata bhasma may be obtained". (Rasamritam)
2. Bhasma of Silver (2):
Purified Silver leaf 4 parts
Purified Orpiment 1 part
These are rubbed together with lime fruit juice, then dried into tablets. These are sealed within a crucible, and fired with 30 Cow Dung cakes. This is repeated 14 times
3. Bhasma of Silver from Siddha (1)
Fine Silver filings 9 drams
Prepared Hen’s Egg shell (boiled
in sodium carbonate solution
and remove membrane) 9 drams
Triturate together with the juice of Aclypha indica for 7.5 hours; form lozenges, dry, enclose in clay pans, sealed with cloth and clay; dry and burn with 100 cow dung cakes. Repeat 3 times. This should give a slightly yellow Bhasma.
4. Bhasma of Silver from Siddha (2)
Fine Silver filings 9 drams
Ashes prepared from the tender
shoots on the edges of the roots
of the Banyan tree 9 drams
Triturate these together with the juice obtained from the same part of the Banyan tree for 7.5 hours; make a pill mass, form lozenges, dry them, then enclose and seal in clay pan crucibles. Burn with cow dung cakes heaped into a pile which is 45cm high, wide, and deep. Repeat this process 3 times.
Dose: up to 2 grains, taken with Ghee
5. Silver Kushta (Unani)
Silver foil 250 grams
Rose water 625 mls.
Aloe juice 200 grams
The Silver is triturated with 250 mls. of the Rose water until it loses its shine. It is then formed into 10 gram tablets, sealed in a flask or between clay plates, then heated in a pit with 3 kg of Cow dung. When cool, the tablets are triturated with 150 mls. of Aloe juice, again formed into 10 gram tablets which are fired with another 3 kg. of Cow dung. The cooled material is again treated with 125 mls. of Rose water, formed into tablets, and again fired with 3 kg. of Cow dung cakes, then again with 25 mls. of Aloe juice. This process is repeated a total of 7 times (4 with Rose water, 3 with Aloe juice). Then the whitish Kushta (ash) is ground and kept.
It is a Brain and Liver tonic, Heart stimulant, Aphrodisiac, and is useful in Spermatorrhea and Nocturnal Emission.
Dose: 60mg in a suitable vehicle.
