Pearl, Red Coral & Amber



Pearl is Cool and dry, and slightly Sweet. Despite its dryness, it has an inherent Yin tonic effect. It is primarily a medicine to calm the Heart, Mind and Spirit. It stops Spasms, is used for Insomnia, Dizziness, Tinnitus and is especially useful to settle Infants. Pearl is also used against Heat, Fever and Toxin.

Red Coral is Cool, dry, and has a similar nature to Pearl. However, it is more connected to the Blood, where Pearl has affinity with Yin. It cools the Heart and calms the Mind and Spirit, and is also used for Spasms, Epilepsy and similar Wind disorders. Red Coral is also used for Bleeding associated with Heat.

Amber is generally regarded as Neutral, and is Sweet. Like Pearl and Red Coral, it settles the Mind and Spirit. Amber moves the Blood, promotes circulation and resolve Stasis. However, it is also used to stop Bleeding. In addition, Amber promotes Urine and is useful for Stones. It is also regarded as strengthening the Heart, Mind, and Uterus in particular.

Together, this combination mutually enhances each others effect in calming the Mind and Spirit, regulating the Nerves, stopping Spasms and settling Wind. Pearl and Coral work together to clear Heat, and are heavy in nature, support the Yin, thereby stops the Yang Qi which rises to unsettle the Mind and Spirit. Red Coral and Amber together work well to regulate Blood, moving the Blood while stopping Bleeding. Amber and Pearl represent Yin and Yang (Sun and Moon) in this trio. Pearl associates especially with the Moon, Water Element and the Kidney Yin, while Amber is associated with the Sun, Fire Elelment  and the Heart Yang. Therefore, they work together to balance Fire and Water, Yin and Yang.

There effects together potently calm the Mind and Nerves, calm the Spirit and regulates the Nervous system. They can be used for conditions such as Fever, Childhood Convulsions, Restlessness and Night Crying in Children, as well as Insomnia, excess Emotions, Restlessness, Dizziness, Vertigo and related Wind disorders in adults.

They can also be combined to stop Bleeding associated with Heat, and are also combined for Leakages such as preventing Miscarriage when threatened.
