Minerological name:
Foraminifera

Parts used:
Prepared Fossil

Temperature & Taste:
Cool, dry.

Uses:
1. Clears Heat, Stops Bleeding:
-Hemoptysis, Phthisis

2. Clears Stomach Heat:
-used as an antacid

3. Externally:
-used for Ulcers, Pityriasis
-Eye diseases including Conjunctivitis, Pterygium, Keratitis and white spots in the Eyes
-topically for Gum pain


DOSE:
Of the prepared powder: 250–1000mg
Also used topically

PREPARATION:
Prepared by powdering, mixing in water, allowing the sediment to settle and pouring off and decanting the water with the suspended fine particles. The sediment is again powdered and the process is repeated until all that can be collected has been collected. The decanted water is left to allow the fine powder to settle, the water is poured off and the powder dried and kept for use.

Main Combinations:
1. Hemoptysis, Phthisis:
i. Nummulite,
ii. Nummulite, Purslane seed, Coriander seed, White Poppy seed, Rose, Tabasheer, Armenian (Red) Earth (equal parts), made into Troches with mucilage of Ispaghul. (as in Troches of Nummulite of Unani)
2. Conjunctivitis, Nummulite, Pearl, Red Coral, burnt Copper, Antimony, used topically (Unani)
3. Pityriasis, Pterygium, Nummulite, roasted Copper sulphate, Silver powder, Aloe (dried), Armenian (Red) Earth, made into a stick and applied topically.
4. Vascular Keratitis, white spots in the Eye, Nummulite, Gum Arabic, roasted Copper sulphate, roasted Alum, Aloe (dried), Myrrh. Powder, add water and form into dried blocks. To use, a little is mixed with Rose water and applied.
5. Gum pain, Nummulite, Pomegranate flower, Sumac, applied topically
