Botanical name:
Flemingia spp. (syn Moghania spp.)
  1. F. lineata
  2. F. prostrata
  3. F. macrophylla (Guangdong, Guangxi)
F. stricta is used in Ayurveda for joint disease and may be a synoymous herbs. A number of other species of Flemingia are used in Eastern systems of medicine, several having similar uses to F. lineata.

Parts used:
Root

Temperature & Taste:
Slightly Warm, dry. Pungent, Sweet

Classification:


Uses:
1. Clears Wind and Damp, Opens the Channels:
-pain and stiffness of the muscles, tendons and  joints
-Arthritis, Osteoarthritis, Sciatica
-Lower Back and leg pain from Kidney weakness
-weakness of the Knees and Legs
-Fractures, Trauma, Bruising
-Jaundice

2. Moves Blood, Promotes Menstruation:
-promotes and regulates Menstruation
-Leukorrhea

3. Clears Heat, Resists Toxin:
-Carbuncles
-Acute Sore Throat
-Toothache
-Poisoning
-Snake Bite


DOSE:
Decoction: 3–12 grams (up to 30–60 grams fresh)

Main Combinations:
1. Joint pain, Arthritis:
i. and Tendon pain, Flemingia with Dioscorea nipponica Chuan Shan Long, Achyranthes Niu Xi
ii. Flemingia with Centipeda E Bu Shi Cao, Golden Rod (Liu Zhi Huang), Vanieria Huang Jin Gui
iii. Flemingia with Wikstroemia Pu Yin
iv. Rheumatism and Muscle pain, Flemingia decocted with Pig's trotters in water and wine.
2. Back and Leg pain and weakness from Kidney deficiency:
i. Flemingia with Dipsacus Xu Duan, Eucommia Du Zhong, Angelica pubescens Du Huo, Mistletoe (Sang Ji Sheng)
ii. Flemingia with Spatholobus Ji Xue Teng, Drynaria Gu Sui Bu
iii. Flemingia with Vanieria Huang Jin Gui, Dioscorea nipponica Chuan Shan Long, Hyptis Mo Gu Xiao
3. Sciatica, Flemingia with Frankincense (Ru Xiang), Myrrh (Mo Yao)
4. Tightness of the tendons, Flemingia with Chaenomelis Mu Gua, Paeonia Bai Shao, Frankincense (Ru Xiang)
5. Fractures, Flemingia with Eucommia Du Zhong, Dipsacus Xu Duan
6. To promote Menstruation when obstructed by cold, Flemingia with Motherwort (Yi MU Cao), Cyperus rotundus (Xiang Fu), Cinnamon (Rou Gui)
7. Leukorrhea from Damp-Heat with yellow foul-smelling discharge and abdominal pain, Flemingia with Andrographis Chuan Xin Lian, Rosehip (Jin Ying Zi), Dang Gui, Codonopsis Dang Shen, Spatholobus Ji Xue Teng. (as in Fu Ke Qian Jin Pian of the Chinese Pharmacopoeia)
8. Chronic Nephritis, decoct 1–2 ounces of the fresh root to be taken over the course of the day.
