Bircher Muesli
Bircher Muesli is one of the Traditional types of Muesli and for many, it is the best way to have a 'western' type cereal breakfast. Soaking the Oats makes them much easier to digest. Additionally, if it is wanted to be taken warm, it can be gently heated (not boiled), or else a dash of boiling water can be mixed through before eating.
Ingredients for Traditional Bircher:
Oats (rolled or instant): 1 cup
Water: 1 cup
Apple, grated: 1/2
Oats (rolled or instant): 1 cup

Soak Oats in water; whole Oats can be soaked overnight, quick Oats can be soaked for 10 minutes. Add grated apple, and a little Sugar, Sweetened Condensed Milk, or Honey to taste. Then squeeze on a little Lemon juice.
Variations:
1. some use milk or half milk, half water in place of water
2. Yoghurt can be added in place of sweetened condensed milk
3. fresh berries can be added, such as Blueberries, or a spoonful of Berry Jam
4. dried fruit such as Raisins, Goji berries, Currants or cut up Figs or Dates can be added
5. crushed Walnuts or Hazelnuts can also be added, as can toasted Coconut or Sunflower seeds
6. a sprinkle of Cinnamon or Cardamon powder benefits taste and enhances digestion
7. A little Sesame seed or Linseed can be soaked along with the Oats.
8. a little Black Rice can be added and soaked with the Oats.

Note in the following recipes, Rolled Oats should be soaked overnight, while quick-cooking Oats can be soaked for 10–30 minutes in hot water. If soaking overnight with the other ingredients, cold water can be used, while if soaking quick-cooking Oats for a short time, hot water should be used.

Soak the Oats, Walnuts and Figs overnight. In the morning, heat gently, add LSA and a little Honey to taste.

Soak overnight, in the morning, add hot water, stir well, and add half a grated Apple.

Desiccated Coconut, 1 teaspoon
Cinnamon powder, a pinch
Banana, sliced (half large or 1 small)
Rolled Oats, half cup

Soak the Oats and Coconut, add the Banana slices and sprinkle with Cinnamon.
