Bai Zhu (Atractylodes)

Atractylodes macroencephala

30 grams

Huang Qi (Astragalus)

Astragalus mongholicus

18 grams

Bai Shao (White Peony)

Paeonia lactiflora

Hai Piao Xiao (Cuttlebone)

Sepia officinalis

12 grams ea.

Zong Lu Tan (Calcined Trachycarpus)

Trachycarpus fortunei

6 grams

Wu Bei Zi (Chinese Gall)

Rhus chinensis

1 ½ grams

Qian Cao (Madder)

Rubia cordifolia

9 grams

Preparation:

Decoction. Cook the Shell and Fossil bone for 45 minutes before adding the other ingredients.

Function:

Stops Bleeding, Stabilises Menstruation, Benefits Qi

Use:

Uterine Bleeding or excessive Menstruation with thin, pale blood which either gushes or trickles continuously, along with palpitations, shortness of Breath.
1. Menorrhagia
2. Dysfunctional Uterine Bleeding
3. Continuous leakage or spotting
4. Postpartum Bleeding
5. Bleeding Peptic Ulcer

Dose:

The above is divided into three equal doses to be taken over the day

Cautions:

Not used for extreme bleeding with sweating, cold limbs, and an extremely faint pulse

Modifications:

1. For Cold Sweat and a very weak pulse (Yang deficiency), increase the dose of Astragalus Huang Qi and add Ginseng.
