Preparation:

Function:

Clears Heat and Inflammation, Settles Wind, Strengthens the Brain and Nerves, clears Wind and Damp

Use:

1. Neuritis
2. Acute Neuralgia
3. Gout
4. Pain in the Kidneys, lower back and hips
5. Sciatica
6. Arthritis, Osteoarthritis, degenerative joint disease
7. Chronic Skin diseases
8. Sti
ffness and contraction of the limbs; difficulty extending and flexing of the limbs
9. Numbness
10. Paralysis, Hemiplegia
11. Apoplectic Sequelae
12. Chronic In
flammation
13. Syphilis
14. Also used for Cancer

Dose:

2–3 grams twice daily with hot water, traditionally at noon and midnight.

Cautions:

None noted

Modifications:

When Garuda 5 is added, it forms Wish-fulfilling Garuda (Bsam khyung). Used for deviation of the mouth or eye, tightening of the limbs, rigidity of the sinews, and for pains of the hips, lower back and lower joints.,

Comment:

This is a special and highly regarded medicine. It clears heat from Blood and Bile without harming Phlegm and Wind. It is much used for Heat diseases (inflammation) of the joints or nerves. Highly effective for Paralysis, loss of function or tightness of the limbs.
