Preparation:
Powder and form small pills with Honey.
It can also be prepared as a decoction using approximately half of the above doses.
Function:
Nourish Kidney Yin, Strengthens the Lungs
Use:
Lower Back pain and weakness, dizziness, tinnitus, night sweats, dry, reddish and /or cracked Tongue with little coating; pulse is rapid and thin.
1. Asthma, Bronchial Asthma
2. Chronic Wheezing
3. Emphysema
4. Pulmonary Tuberculosis
Dose:
9 grams of the pills, three times daily
Cautions:
None noted
Modifications:
1. Chronic Asthma or Wheezing:
i. add Ephedra Ma Huang and Licorice
ii. add Lily bulb (Bai He) and Ophiopogon Mai Men Dong
iii. add Apricot kernel (Xing Ren), Lily bulb (Bai He) and Honey-fried Licorice (Zhi Gan Cao)
iv. with hard to clear Phlegm, add Lily bulb (Bai He), Fritillaria Chuan Bei Mu, Ophiopogon Mai Men Dong, Apricot kernel (Xing Ren)
v. with marked Qi deficiency, add Astragalus Huang Qi, Ginseng, Licorice
