Coriandrum sativum

Sweta jiraka (Cumin)

Cuminum cyminum

Pippali mula (Long Pepper root)

Piper longum

Trikatu *

Three Pungents

Dadima (Pomegranate seed)

Punica granatum

* Trikatu is equal parts of Ginger, Black Pepper, and Long Pepper. Here, the mix together is used in a dose of 40 grams.

Preparation:

Powder

Function:

Warms the Stomach, Promotes Digestion, Moves Qi, Clears Phlegm

Use:

1. Indigestion
2. Colic, Bloating
2. Malabsorption syndrome
3. Diarrhea (from Cold / Phlegm)
4. Irritable Bowel Syndrome
5. Also useful for acute Cold-Phlegm Cough

Dose:

3 to 5 grams, up to 10 grams, once or twice daily after meals, taken with Warm water, thin buttermilk (Takra), or rice gruel (Manda).

Cautions:

1. Not used for Gastritis from Heat or other signs of Stomach Heat
2. Large doses may aggravate Constipation
3. Not suitable for use in Diabetes because of the sugar content
