Ginger

Zingiber officinalis

½ dram ea.

Sugar

Saccharum

sufficient

Preparation:

Infuse in Wine or Spirit of Convallaria; traditionally Malago wine distilled from Lily of the Valley was used.

Function:

Warms, promotes Circulation, clears Wind

Use:

“It is powerful against the Apoplexy, Falling Sickness [Epilepsy], Vertigo, Migraine, Carus, Lethargy, Palsy [Paralysis], Convulsions, and loss of Memory”. (Salmon)
1. Apoplexy
2. May be used for other Wind diseases such as Epilepsy and Vertigo

Dose:

1 spoonful twice daily
