Preparation:
Powder coarsely to be made into decoction.
Function:
Clears Liver Heat, Clears Bile
Use:
Red eyes, headache, irritability, red tongue with a yellow coat, rapid or big pulse
1. Liver heat
2. Cholecystitis
3. Jaundice
4. Hepatitis
Dose:
A spoonful of the coarse powder is boiled in 3 cups of water down to half. This can be taken over the course of the day. According to another source, 3–5 grams, twice daily.
Cautions:
Not used in Cold or Phlegm conditions
Modifications:
This can also be made into powder or pills, but in this form, Swertia 8 or Swertia 25 are better.
