Preparation:
Decoction
Function:
Resolves Qi Stagnation, Clears Phlegm, Clears the Orifices of the Mind
Use:
Liver Qi Stagnation with Turbid Phlegm Misting the Heart Orifices, with thick, slimy white coating and a slippery, wiry pulse
1. Severe Emotional & Psychological Distress
2. Melancholia, heavy Depression
3. Paranoia, obsessive Worrying
4. Globus Hystericus
5. Suffocating fullness and distention in the chest and hypochondrium
Dose:
The above is decocted to be taken over the course of the day.
Cautions:
1. Not used for Yin deficiency or dryness
2. Not suitable for Heat type conditions unless Cold medicines are added.
2. Not used during Pregnancy
Modifications:
1. For Phlegm-Fire, add Coptis Huang Lian
2. For Mania, add Meng Shi (Chlorite Schist)
3. Headaches, add Ligusticum Chuan Xiong.
4. Qi deficiency, add Atractylodes Bai Zhu
5. Severe constraint with Mania and Irritability, add Rhubarb (Da Huang)
