Nausea & Vomiting

Nausea and Vomiting may come from various causes, some of the major ones include:
1. Acute: caused by irritation, food poisoning or an acute gastrointestinal virus
2. Stomach Cold: Coldness of the Stomach inhibits digestion
3. Stomach Heat: Heat drives the Stomach contents upwards
4. Phlegm: obstructs the movement of Food causing it to be expelled
5. Phlegm-Bile:
6. Pregnancy, etc.
To strengthen the Stomach after Heat (Bile) Vomiting, Syrup of Quince, Syrup of Sour Pomegranate, and Conserve of Roses are useful.
Cupping Glasses can be applied to the Back and Navel.
Western Tradition
Nausea
1. Infusion of Ginger (Ginger tea) is the most useful first line of treatment for simple Nausea. If it needs to be stronger, boil it a little.

Stop Vomiting
1. Take a little piece of Aloe in Cold water before eating and it will prevent Vomiting.
2. “Some few Grains of the best Mastic, taken in the Morning, is good to stay Vomiting”. (The Practice of Physick. Riverius et al., 1663)
3. Lemon seed beaten with Honey and taken (Siddha)
4. Quince juice taken in doses of 2–3 spoonfuls.
5. Ginger, Cardamon, Orange peel
6. Cumin seed (4 grams), Cardamon (2 grams) prepare a decoction.
7. Cardamon, Aloeswood, Aniseed for Hiccup, Nausea, Vomiting and loss of apopetite from Cold (Secrets of Alexis)
8. A little Camphor taken in Rose water.
9. Severe vomiting, take Sulphur and Deer Horn powder (equal parts), powder and give in a soft egg and it will stop the vomiting. (The Secrets of Alexis, 1615)

Aloe washed in
Rose water 3 drams
Rhubarb 1 dram
Mastic
Red Sandalwood
Red Cora 1 scruple ea.
Make pills with Syrup of Rose Solutive.
Dose: ½–1 dram every second day.
ANOTHER:
Rhubarb 1 dram
Yellow Myrobalan 1 scruple
Tabasheer
Deer horned shaved 6 grains ea.
AFTER PURGING USE THIS IF THERE IS EXCESS HEAT
Sour Pomegranate juice 6 oz.
Mint juice clarified 2 oz.
Sorrel Water 1 pint
White Sugar ½ pound
While boiling add a Clout of Sandalwood, Rose and Tabasheer. Form a Julep, take 4 ounces morning and night.
