Preparation:
Powder and form Pills with Water or Honey.
Function:
Movies Qi, Relieves Constraint
Use:
Qi Stagnation with Phlegm-Damp, Heat, Blood stasis or food stagnation
Stifling sensation in the chest and abdomen, hypochondria pain, Indigestion, greasy tongue coating
1. Focal distention
2. Belching
3. Vomiting
4. Acid reflux, GERD
5. Chronic Gastritis
6. Peptic Ulcer
7. Gall Stones
8. Chronic Hepatitis
9. Globus Hystericus
10. Depression
11. Dysmenorrhea
12. Pelvic Inflammatory Disease
Dose:
6–9 grams with warm water
It can also be prepared as a decoction using 6–12 grams of each medicine.
Cautions:
Not used in marked deficiency
Modifications:
1. Significant Qi Stagnation, add Costus (Mu Xiang)
2. Abdominal Pain from Cold and Qui Stagnation, add Galangal (Gao Lian Jiang) and Cyperus rotundus (Xing Fu)
3. Liver Qi Stagnation with Depression, add Paeonia Bai Shao and Bupleurum Chai Hu
4. With Liver Heat, add Paeonia Bai Shao and Paeonia Mu Dan Pi
5. Strong Heat or Fire, add Scutellaria Huang Qin and Coptis Huang Lian
6. With Blood stasis, add Peach kernel (Tao Ren) and Safflower (Hong Hua)
7. Also for Blood Stasis, add Xue Fu Zhu Yu Tang
8. Excess damp, add Poria Fu Ling and Citrus Chen Pi
9. Excess Phlegm, add Pinellia Ban Xia and/or Arisaema Tian Nan Xing
10. Food Stagnation, add Hawthorn (Shan Zha) and Malted Barley (Mai Ya)
11. If there is Stomach Cold, remove Gardenia Zhi Zi and add Evodia Wu Zhu Yu and Ginger
12. Severe Bloating and distention, add Citrus Chen Pi, Green Citrus Qing Pi, Betel nut (Bing Lang)
13. Severe pain, add Corydalis Yan Hu Suo, Green Citrus Qing Pi, Frankincense (Ru Xiang)
14. With Constipation, add Rhubarb (Da Huang) and Immature Orange (Zhi Shi)
