Preparation:
Powder the herbs with the sugar, then mix with the warmed honey and form an Electuary.
Function:
Purges Bile and Pituitous (Damp) Humors, Settles Wind
Use:
1. Joint Pain
2. Arthritis
3. Sciatica
4. Lumbar pain
5. Edema
6. Colic
7. Clears Damp from the Urinary system
8. Hypochondriac pain
9. clears Excess from the Body
Dose:
2–6 drams
Comment:
‘Mesue says, it purges Wind, Phlegm and Choler from all parts of the Body, cleanses the Reins and Bladder, is good against Gout, Sciatica and Pains of the Joints, Dropsy and Watery humors’. (Salmon)
Cautions:
1. Avoid overdose
2. Not used in Yin deficiency
