Preparation:
Standard Decoction
Function:
Stops Wind, clears Phlegm, dries Damp, strengthens the Spleen and calms the Liver
Use:
In the following conditions there is excess mucus in the head and chest, stifling sensation in chest, blocked sinuses, clear or white mucus, nausea, a feeling of heaviness, a slippery pulse and a thick, greasy white tongue coat
1. Dizziness, maybe with Nausea
2. Vertigo
3. Benign Positional Vertigo
4. Meniere’s Disease
5. Headache
6. Hypertension
7. Prevents Seasickness
Dose:
the above is taken over the course of a day in 2–3 divided doses.
Cautions:
1. Dizziness and Vertigo from Liver Heat
Modifications:
1. Severe vertigo add Arisaema Dan Nan Xing (bile prepared)
2. Marked weakness, add Ginseng and Astragalus
3. Headache from Wind-Cold, add Saposhnikovia Fang Feng
4. Headache from Wind and Blood deficiency, add Dang Gui and Ligusticum Chuan Xiong
