Preparation:

Powder and with clarified Plantain juice, form Troches

Function:

Clears Heat, astringes, Stops Bleeding

Use:

1. General for Bleeding associated with Heat
2. Dysentery with Blood
3. Excessive Menstruation

Dose:

1⁄2–1 dram

Cautions:

None noted

Modifications:

Galen originally ordered Terra Samia, Samnian Earth. Later authors accepted Armenian Earth as an acceptable substitute, and perhaps, more appropriate to the intentions.
