Botanical name:
Soroseris spp.
Several herbs supply different varieties of Srol gong in Tibetan Medicine:
1. Srol gong ser po (Yellow): Soroseris hookeriana, S. hirsuta, S. umbrella; S. pumila is used in Nepal
2. Srol gong smug po (Blue): Syncalathium haulaguchi (S. kawaguchii?)
3. Srol gong sngon po: Lactuca sibirica (Siberian Lettuce), Syncalathium kawaguchii
Saussurea stella has also been listed, possibly an alternate source or substitute.

Neutral/Cool, dry. Bitter, slightly Pungent
Uses:
1. Clears Wind-Heat, Resists Poison::
-Sore Throat, Fever
-Mastitis
-Carbuncles, Boils, Abscesses
-Poison; Hot disorders from poisoning, Food Poisoning
-Headache, Dizziness from Wind-Heat
-Pain in upper body from Wind-Heat
-also recently for Hypertension
2. Clears Heat, Benefits the Lungs, Stops Cough:
-Cough, Bronchitis
-Pulmonary Tuberculosis, Hemoptysis
3. Moves the Blood, Promotes Healing, Benefits the Bones:
-Fractures
-Rheumatism, Arthritis
-Head injuries
-Bruising and Trauma with Swelling and Pain
4. Regulates Menstruation, Stops Bleeding:
–irregular menstruation
-leukorrhea
5. Externally:
-Eczema
-Boils
-Snake and other toxic bites
-Red eyes (as a wash)
Dose:
Powder: 1–3 grams
Decoction: 6–12 grams
Main Combinations:
1. Acute Cough:
i. Soroseris, Licorice, Almond kernel
ii. Soroseris, Loquat leaf (Pi Pa Ye), Bupleurum Chai Hu
2. Mastitis, Soroseris with Trichosanthes Gua Lou (12 grams each)
