Botanical name:

Sisybrium spp and Erysimum spp.
2 main varieties are recognised:

1. Sisymbrium heteromallum
2. Erysimum canescens (syn. E diffusum), E. altaicum

Temperature & Taste:

Cool. Bitter, Sweet

Uses:

1. Clears Heat, Resists Poison:

-antidote to Meat Poison
-Fever, ‘Disturbed Fever’
-Blood Heat-Toxin; Small Pox

2. Strengthens Lungs, Stops Cough:

-Cough from deficiency or Lung weakness (TCM, Tibet)
-strengthens surface

3. Benefits Heart:

-Heart disease

Dose:

Decoction: 3–9 grams

Substitute:

Hedge Mustard (Sisymbrium spp.) and Treacle Mustard are possible substitutes.
