Powder and form pills with Cabbage juice
Function:
Purges Phlegm, Bile and Melancholy
Use:
1. Purges Phlegm and Bile form the Heart, Liver and Stomach
2. Purges Melancholy from the Spleen and Lungs
3. Diseases of the Head from mixed Humors
4. Liver disease
5. Hypochondriac Melancholy
6. Melancholy and Dampness of the Spleen (Wirtzung)
7. Chronic Fever including chronic Spotted Fevers
8. Useful in various chronic and complex diseases
Dose:
1 scruple–1 dram in a suitbale vehicle
Comment:
This was sometimes called Polycrest Pills as it was used to purge all humors.
Cautions:
None noted
Modifications:
1. Combined with Pills of Lapis Lazuli for chronic and obstinate diseases
Similar Formulas:
Polycrest Pills of Mesue were also sometimes called Aggregative Majores and has a similar effect.
