Botanical name:

Several species of Paraquilegia are used:
  1. P. anemonoides
  2. P. microphylla

Parts used:

Whole plant

Temperature & Taste:

Cool, dry. Bitter, Sweet

Uses:

1. Moves the Blood, Promotes Menstruation:

-Amenorrhea, Dysmenorrhea
-Promotes Labor
-Expels a Dead Fetus

2. Moves the Blood, Resolves Stasis, Stops Bleeding, Eases Pain:

-Blood stasis; Bruising; Hematoma
-Pain associated with Blood stagnation or Bruising
-Bleeding due to Trauma
-Uterine Bleeding
-inflammation of Wounds
-helps eject foreign bodies from Wounds (inc. bullets etc.)

Dose:

Decoction: 3–6 grams
Powder: 1–3 grams

Main Combinations:

1. To promote and enhance Labor, Paraquilegia, Mirabilis, Tribulus, Angelica glauca, Snake skin

Major Formulas:

Paraquilegia 6 (Mde’u ‘byin drug pa)

Cautions:

Not used during Pregnancy.
