Mulled Cider
A Traditional Restorative Soup
Mulled Cider
Apple Cider, 12 cups
whole Cloves, 1 1/2 teaspoons
whole Allspice, 1 1/2 teaspoons
Cinnamon, 6 sticks
Brown Sugar, 1 1/2 cups
1. Add the Cider to a large saucepan. Add the spices tied in cheesecloth and the sugar.
2. Bring to boil, stirring gently. Then simmer for 10 minutes, covered.
3. Traditionally, Calvados (Apple Brandy) or Applejack (distilled Apple Cider) are added for more punch, then simmered for a minute before removing from the heat. Vodka or Brandy can also be used.
Remove the bag with the spice and serve into pre-warmed mugs
