Cool, slightly Moist. Bitter, Sweet

Classifications:

A. Clear Exterior Wind-Heat

Uses:

1. Clears Wind-Heat:

-Fever, Cold, Flu, sore Throat
-nasal obstruction, Sinusitis
-also to promote expression of rashes in Measles etc., and for Pruritus
-Trigeninal neuraligia from Liver Heat or Wind-Heat

2. Clears Liver Heat, Clears the Eyes:

-Headache, Vertigo;
-red, sore, dry or painful eyes from Liver Heat or Wind-Heat

3. Clears Heat, Moistens the Lungs:

-Lung heat Cough with or without dryness, or with thick, yellow sputum

4. Cools the Blood, Stops Bleeding

-Vomiting Blood

Dose:

Dried Leaf in Decoction: 4–9 grams

Main Combinations:

1. Sore, red and painful Eyes, Morus Sang Ye with Chrysanthemum Ju Hua.
2. Wind-Heat cold or flu, Morus Sang Ye with Chrysanthemum Ju Hua, Mint (Bo He)
3. Nasal obstruction, Morus Sang Ye with Magnolia Xin Yi, Mint (Bo He), Scutellaria Huang Qin
4. Promote expression of rashes, Morus Sang Ye with Mint (Bo He), Cicada Slough (Chan Tui), Chrysanthemum Ju Hua
5. Lung Heat Cough:
i. Morus Sang Ye with Platycodon Jie Geng, Almond/Apricot kernel (Xing Ren)
ii. Morus Sang Ye with Scutellaria Huang Qin, Licorice
iii. Morus Sang Ye with Platycodon Jie Geng, Fritillaria Zhe Bei Mu
6. Dizziness or Vertigo:
i. from Liver heat, Morus Sang Ye with Chrysanthemum Ju Hua Abalone shell (Shi Jue Ming)
ii. from deficiency, Morus Sang Ye with Sesame seed
7. Liver Heat Red and Sore eyes, Morus Sang Ye with Chrysanthemum Ju Hua, Self Heal (Xia Ku Cao)
8. Trigeminal neuralgia from Liver Heat, Morus Sang Ye with Chrysanthemum Ju Hua, Uncaria Gou Teng, Self Heal (Xia Ku Cao), Ligusticum Chuan Xiong, Eclipta Han Lian Cao
9. To promote the expression of rash in Measles, Morus Sang Ye with Lonicera Jin Yin Hua, Forsythia Lian Qiao, Rehmannia Sheng Di Huang, Mint (Bo He), Cicada slough (Chan Tui)
10. Pruritus, Morus Sang Ye with Saposhnikovia Fang Feng, Tribulus Ci Ji Li, Rehmannia Sheng Di Huang, Scutellaria Huang Qin
