Preparation:
Full roots of Calamus are covered with Castor oil then charred over a fire. The charred roots are then powdered and mixed with Ghee to form a paste.
Function:
Benefits Digestion, strengthens the Mind and Nerves
Use:
1. Tonic for Children; regulates digestion and bowels
2. Promotes Intelligence and healthy Mental Development
3. Resists Poison and infection in Children
4. Used for Cough (taken with Honey)
Dose:
a piece the size of a pea can be given to infants.

Modifications:
1. Wind-Colic, mix with a little Ginger and Sugar in warm water
Comment:
This is a special medicine for young infants in the Siddha system of Tamil, India. It is often given once monthly to newborn infants. It may be used daily in the treatment of digestive disturbance, mental dullness or failure to thrive. It is especially highly regarded for healthy Brain and Nervous system development.
