Botanical name:

Lloydia serotina (syn. L. serotina var. serotina, L. alpina, L. himalalensis, Bulbocodium serotinum)

Parts used:

Aerial parts

Temperature & Taste:

Cool, dry. Bitter

Uses:

1. Clears Liver Heat, Benefits the Eyes:

-red, sore, swollen eyes associated with Liver Heat

2. Clears Phlegm-Heat, Resolves Pus:

-Wounds of the Chest or Torso
-Lung abscess; Pus accumulation in the Chest

3. Moves the Blood, Benefits the Bones:

-Injuries, especially of the chest
-helps heal fractured bones
-Promotes Tooth growth (Clark)
-classically to expel Evil Spirits

Dose:

Powder: 1–3 grams

Substitute:

1. Carex spp. is also listed as a source of this herb
2. Eyebright can be used when used for eye disoreders

Main Combinations:

1. Eye diseases with redness, pain and swelling,  Lloydia serotina, Calcite, Tabasheer, Safflower, Costus, Bdellium, Triphala, Licorice, Carum carvi, Meconopsis grandis, Shilajit, prepared Iron (as in A Wa 15).
2. To help heal fractures it is mixed with butter and applied.

Clarifying Lloydia 15 (Gsal byed a wa bco lnga)
Cinnabar 3 (Chog la gsum sbyor) (Tibetan)
Goethite 25 (Mdung rtse nyer lnga) (Tibetan)
