Additions to the Teachings of Dan-Xi (Dan Xi Xin Fa Fu Yu)

* Chlorite (Meng Shi) is calcined for use
** Rhubarb and Scutellaria Huang Qin are wine-fried

Preparation:

Powder and form pills with water.
It is sometimes prepared in decoction in which case the Chlorite Schist is wrapped in cheesecloth or a filter bag, and the Rhubarb and Aloeswood is added in the last few minutes.

Function:

Purges Heat, Resolves Phlegm

Use:

Stifling sensation in the chest, cough and wheezing with thick sputum, yellow greasy tongue coating, rapid and strong pulse.
It is specifically for stubborn and severe Phlegm-Fire harassing the Heart and Mind.

6. Violent agitation, unprovoked aggressive behavior
7. Palpitations with Anxiety
8. Hysteria
9. Anxiety disorder
10. Stubborn Insomnia with constant thinking
11. Childhood Convulsions
12. Asthma
13. Acute Bronchitis
14. Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease.
15. Esophageal Cancer

Dose:

This is for acute, short-term use (usually only 3–7 days). Once symptoms have alleviated, more gentle formulas are used.
6–9 grams, once or twice daily with warm water.

Cautions:

1. Not used during Pregnancy or Postpartum.
2. Only used in excess conditions; not for deficiency. And only for cases with Heat and Phlegm.
3. Not used long term.
