Temperature & Taste:

Cool, dry. Salty, slightly Sweet

Constituents:

Mainly calcium carbonate, silicon dioxide, small amount of phosphoric acid.

Uses:

1. Moves the Blood:

_promote Labor and cleanse the Afterbirth
-“expedite birth and stimulate the descend of the fetus”,-

2. Resists Poison:

-Alexipharmic, used for Mineral, Metal and Vegetable Poisons.
-“They resolve all types of medication poison and Gu poison [parasite-related diseases], as well as epidemic heat illness”. (Da Ming)

3. Externally:

-The finely levigated powder was applied to Opacities of the Eyes
-“Excess skin affecting the eyes” (Kai Bao)
-“Rub them in vinegar and apply to swellings associated with obstruction”. (Su Song)

Dose:

Fine Powder: 500mg–3 grams

Preparation:

1. Quenched Fossil Crab:
  It can be calcined until red hot and quenched for use. This facilitates pulverisation.

Comment:

“It is said that they are ordinary crabs thatin the course of many years because of constant contact with the foam in the water are transformed and become stones”. (Li Shi Zhen

Main Combinations:

1. “Swollen and painful blocked throat. Rub stone crabs in water and drink. At the same time, rub it from outside on the throat. (Sheng Ji Lu)

Cautions:

1. Not used in Pregnancy. It was said to Induce Miscarriage
2. Not used in Cold and Weak digestion.
