Preparation:
With Sugar (four times the weight of the rest) dissolved in Cinnamon water, form an Electuary.
Function:
Clears Heat, restores Yin, restrains Leakage
Use:
1. Diarrhea or Loose bowels in the weak or those with Yin deficiency
2. Leukorrhea
3. Excessive Menstrual bleeding
4. Heart Yin deficiency
5. Hectic Fever
6. Consumption
7. Sweating
8. ‘Best medicine for Consumption accompanied by looseness’. (Culpeper)
Dose:
1 dram each morning. If there is severe looseness, it can be taken 3 times daily.
Comment:
This is a special medicine in that it dries without damaging Yin, and can therefore be used for looseness in the old, weak or Yin deficient.
It might be useful for other conditions such as Menopausal syndrome.
