FORMULARY OF TRADITIONAL MEDICINE
Distilled Waters
Distilled Waters are Waters distilled off Herbs. The advantage is that the qualities of the herbs are kept in a way that will keep. Whereas a decoction of a herb may last a few days, a distilled water can last 1–2 or more years. Distilled Waters are most suitable for aromatic herbs, however many common non-aromatic herbs were used in the form of Distilled Waters.
In Distillation, if Wine is used, the first third distilled off is kept as Spirit, the second-third is kept as Water with the remainder being discarded.
Formulas used in Distilled Waters or Spirits may be used in other forms such as Tinctures, Decoction or Powders etc.
