Cleanse the Blood

Cleanse the Blood

‘Cleansing the Blood’ is a term used more commonly by modern practitioners, so has been added here to facilitate easier clinical application. Unclean Blood will be most evident in the skin. Dirty, patchy, spotty skin will be the best immediate indication of unclean blood. Blood cleansing medicines may be applicable to skin diseases, chronic joint disease, acute infections, cachexia and after chronic illness and chronic inflammations. In the Humoral Theory, the blood is cleansed of the specific Humor deranged or in excess; cleansing the Humors can be seen under each respective Humor. The closest TCM idea of Blood cleansers is seen in the medicines that clear Heat and Toxin, and medicines that clear Heat from the Blood.
