Spirits
Distilled Spirits are distilled off Herbs, as well as Animal and Mineral medicines. The advantage is that the qualities of the herbs are kept in a way that will keep. A distilled Spirit can keep indefinately.
In Distillation, if Wine is used, the first third distilled off is kept as Spirit, the second-third is kept as Water with the remainder being discarded.
In Spagyric Spirits, the herbs are burnt to ashes after extraction, and from these the Salts are extracted. The Salts are added to the Spirit and kept in a warmth (such as a pile of Cow Dung) for up to a month. This is a stronger type of Spirit with a more complete spectrum from the extracted herbs.
Formulas used as Distilled Spirits may be used in other forms such as Tinctures, Decoction or Powders etc.
