* The source text had 2 version of this medicine with different proportions. That with the first column of doses was prescribed for "Difficulty Breathing and Asthma". That in the second column of ingredients was listed for "Asthma of long standing" (ie. Chronic Asthma)
** Sulphur is best prepared for internal use although the source text said to use "Unburnt Sulphur". Flowers of Sulphur (sublimed Sulphur) can be used.
Preparation:
Powder, mix with water and form pills the size of a (small) bean.
Function:
Clears Cold Phlegm, Stops Cough and Asthma
Use:
1. Cough with excess Phlegm
2. Asthma
3. Shortness of Breath
4. Difficulty Breathing
Dose:
Take 3–5 pills (1.5–2 grams) morning and evening.
The source text says to take Oxymel afterwards.
Cautions:
1. Not used during Pregnancy
Modifications:
1. Asafetida or Storax may replace Castoreum
2. This will be both stronger and better corrected if a little Licorice is added.
