Preparation:
Prepare a standard decoction. The Aconite should be cooked for 45 minutes before adding the other herbs whcih are cooked together for a further 30–45 minutes.
It is wise to begin with a lower dosage of Aconite, increaseing if needed.
Function:
Warms the Interior, Purges Cold, Eases Pain
Use:
Abdominal pain with Constipation, Chills, Cold extremities, a white greasy tongue coating and a deep and wiry or slow pulse.
1. Constipation
2. Intestinal obstruction (uncomplicated)
3. Appendictis (uncomplicated)
4. Chronic Colitis
5. Ulcerative Colitis
7. Chronic Dysentery
8. Acute Pancreatitis
9. Chronic Renal Failure
10. Cold Hernia disorders
Dose:
The above decoction is divided into 3 equal doses to be taken over the course of a day.
Cautions:
1. Not used in Heat conditions
2. Not used in Heart disease or those taking Heart medication
3. Avoid overdose
Modifications:
1. Severe abdominal pain, add Cinnamon twig (Gui Zhi and Paeonia Bai Shao.
2. Severe Cold pain in the Intestines, add Costus Mu Xiang and Cinnamon (Rou Gui)
3. Cold Hernia disorders with lower abdominal pain, add Fennel seed (Xiao Hui Xiang) and Cinnamon (Rou Gui)
