Function:
Moistens Lungs, Clears Heat, Resolves Phlegm
Use:
Cough with hard-to-clear Phlegm, dry and sore throat, red tongue, fast pulse
1. Cough
2. Bronchitis
3. Chronic Tonsillitis
4. Asthma
5. Lymph swelling in the neck
6. Pneumonia
7. Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD)
Dose:
6 grams is prepared as a draft, three times daily.
Cautions:
Not used for Yin deficiency.
Modifications:
1. Severe Cough, add Apricot kernel (Xing Ren), Coltsfoot (Kuan Dong Hua)
2. Cough with Blood streaked sputum, add Rehmannia Sheng Di Huang, Eclipta Han Lian Cao.
3. Severe Sore Throat, add Figwort (Xuan Shen), Burdock seed (Niu Bang Zi), Licorice (Gan Cao)
4. With excess Heat, add Coptis Huang Lian.
5. With Yin deficiency, add Ophiopogon Mai Men Dong
6. Also for Yin deficiency, take with Bai He Gu Jin Tang.
